Highway 22 re-opened after head-on crash sends 3 to hospital

RCMP are recommending against highway travel in the area due to blowing snow and ice-covered roads.

1 person is in life-threatening condition

Highway 22 was closed for several hours near Cochrane Sunday morning following a head-on collision.

Police say two vehicles collided near the neighbourhood of Fireside just after 7:30 a.m.

Two teenagers were taken to Alberta Children's Hospital and an adult male was taken to hospital in Calgary in life-threatening condition. 

RCMP are also recommending against highway travel due to blowing snow and ice-covered roads.

Clarifications

  • An earlier version of this story said it was a fatal crash. Police issued a clarification to say one person is in life-threatening condition.
