4 things to do in Calgary this weekend
Afrikadey, dragon boat races, a flood fundraiser and an electronic music festival round out this week's picks
Another summer weekend in Calgary means there are lots of options on the arts and entertainment scene.

Afrikadey 2013 World Music Festival
The annual Afríkadey festival is already underway in Calgary. It's a celebration of the music, food, arts and culture of Africa.
Friday night features an artists symposium at the Calgary Public Library. Pannelists Dare Alade, Casiro Nhussi and Malcolm Mooney will discuss the inspiration, interpretation and activism behind their art. There will also be a question and answer session with the audience.
Saturday's celebrations wrap-up with a concert at Prince's Island Park. Hip hop artist and Grammy Award winner Common is headlining the show.

Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival
North Glenmore Park is going to be packed with amature athletes this weekend as the Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival kicks off. For the first time in several years, 50 teams will be participating in the races which is the maximum number of boats allowed to compete.
In addition to the racing, there's a kids zone, multicultural performances, live bands, food trucks and beer gardens.

Improv Flood Fundraiser
For a bit of a laugh this weekend, the Improv Guild has organized a flood fundraiser to help some of the businesses affected by June's flood.
Many Southern Alberta arts organizations — including the Improv Guild — were hit hard by the disaster and some have yet to get back on their feet. Along with the Improv performers, the fundraiser will feature a set by special musical guest Chase Padgett.

Chasing Summer Festival
Billed as "Canada's largest outdoor electronic music festival," Chasing Summer touches down in Calgary this weekend.
The festival brings together some of the world's best electronic, house and trance DJs. The lineup includes Above and Beyond, Tiesto and Morgan Page.
