While France may seem a world away for most people in Vancouver, the images and sounds of Europe's biggest football tournament are being followed by many here — and businesses like The Pint in Vancouver are prepared.

"It's just such a good atmosphere that we get in here with all the people that come in, and so it's definitely something that we want to be involved in," said Maggie Rolfe, the assistant general manager of The Pint, which is located on Abbott Street.

The pub plans to show Euro 2016 games along with games from the COPA America, a similar tournament on at the same time featuring teams from North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean.

"We'll kind of, like, lump all the Chilean fans together, and the English guys in one area, so they can all listen to the game that they want," said Rolfe.

It will be a similar scene at Vancouver's The Cascade Room, which is also catering to fans of any nation who wish to enjoy Euro 2016.

"European football has always been something we've been proud to showcase, not just the North American sports," said general manager Justin Taylor. "It just allows us to reach out to all the demographics and support our communities ... into football and soccer.

"It's really exploded in Vancouver with the Whitecaps, and, you know, it's just another way to generate revenue for the business and a way to reach out to the community and have a place for them to come and feel at home."

Both Rolfe and Taylor say staff will be working to provide "full English breakfasts" for games that start as early as 6 a.m. PT.

Meanwhile, other establishments will cater predominantly to certain countries like Portugal (Portuguese Club of Vancouver), Italy (Abruzzo Cafe) and England (London Public House).

The Vancouver Alpen Club is showing every Germany game, either for free in its family restaurant or in a special viewing area in its ballroom, for a $10 cover fee where games will be shown on a 17-foot screen.

"It's a very big deal. One of our [more] famous events I would say outside of Oktoberfest," said general manager Patrick Buehrmann. "Bring your German jersey and be prepared to celebrate."

The final of the tournament will be played on Sunday, July 10.
