Vancouver woman charged with harassment
The 28yearold woman who falsely accused a swim coach at Simon Fraser University of sexual harassment in the mid 1990s, now faces a charge of criminal harassment.
Rachel Marsden was arrested by Vancouver Police after a 52yearold Vancouver man complained of being harassed by phone and e-mail.
Police say the two had an intimate onagain, offagain relationship over the past 12 months.
But Constable Sarah Bloor says Marsden began making threatening phone calls and e-mails to the man between October 7 and November 12 of this year.
Marsden was held in custody overnight.
Investigators are asking for several bail conditions, including prohibiting Marsden from having any contact with the media. They also want to ensure that Marsden has no contact with the man.
Crown counsel has requested an evaluation of her mental state.
Back in 1995, an SFU swim coach was fired after Marsden went public with her allegations. He was later reinstated following an investigation.
The coach maintained Marsden sent him erotic pictures and e-mails.
