Vancouver 3rd in worst-dressed city list
Ottawa won 8th place in a ranking posted to MSN Travel
MSN Travel named Vancouver one of the world's three worst-dressed cities, and yoga pants are partly to blame.
Vivian Song, a writer for the online magazine, said that she consulted with editors from GQ magazine when ranking the most unfashionable cities in the world.
Song slammed Vancouver for its willingness to let it all hang out.
"We blame you, Vancouver, birthplace of a certain, insanely popular yoga gear brand which will go unnamed, for spawning a street trend dreaded by all women with wobbly bits and fat deposits in the wrong places," she wrote.
Song pleaded with women in Lotus Land to save comfort wear for the gym.
"Unless you plan to do a downward dog within the hour, spare us the yoga pants and put on some real trousers."
MSN Travel's 10 worst-dressed cities:
- Orlando
- Maui
- Vancouver
- Harajuku, Japan
- Boston
- Seattle
- San Francisco and Silicon Valley
- Ottawa
- Pittsburgh
- Jersey Shore
Vancouver wasn't the only Canadian city called-out in Song's shaming.
Ottawa ranked eighth out of 10 for failing to escape from the '80s.
"Men sport the same boring navy suits that hang like shapeless curtains across their shoulders, women choose sensible shoes, sedate colours and are unremarkably respectable, and everyone is just so 'matchy matchy,'" Song complained.
She also called the federal seat the least-sexy city in Canada.
Orlando and Maui topped the list for being too casual while Pittsburgh and the Jersey Shore, which isn't technically a city, came in below Ottawa for being locations where people try too hard.
