Commuters in Vancouver were coping with delays on the SkyTrain Thursday evening.

The problem began around 6 p.m. PT when TransLink said trains were running very slowly due to a broken power rail near New Westminster Station.

As of 10 p.m. PT,  the power rail problem was still going on.

Derek Zabel, spokesman for TransLink, said it wasn't clear how long repairs would take.

"Hopefully it will be back to normal for the morning rush," he said.

On Thursday night, a one-way shuttle train was running between Columbia and Edmonds.

The Canada Line was operating normally.
