Regina-bound drug mule arrested at Vancouver airport
Cocaine worth $16K to $20K found in DVD player inside woman's suitcase
Police in Richmond, B.C. say a woman was arrested at Vancouver International Airport after trying to board a flight to Regina with a stash of cocaine worth more than $16,000.
Cpl. Stephanie Ashton says the woman's behaviour as she checked in for the flight Friday drew the attention of authorities.
Police with the RCMP Airport Crime Unit searched her suitcase, and found half a kilogram of cocaine hidden inside a DVD player.
The cocaine has an estimated street value of between $16,000 and $20,000, Ashton said.
The RCMP says the woman may have been working as a drug courier.
She is scheduled to appear in court in Richmond on Oct. 3.
