Pilot dead after plane crash in Powell River, B.C.
Crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. PT Monday
The pilot of a small plane is dead after the aircraft crashed in downtown Powell River, B.C.
Cpl. Aubrey Hachey with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre said the plane crashed near an intersection around 11:30 a.m. PT Monday.
Ambulance crews were able to get to the scene quickly because the plane went down in a central location.
The pilot's identity has not been released.
Hachey says the plane was a Piper twin-engine aircraft, and there's no word yet on what caused the crash.
