B.C. mayors write to governments demanding mental health action

The letter, signed by 10 mayors, three First Nations leaders, Vancouver's police chief and others, calls on the governments to bring in "mandatory care" for people with severe mental health and addiction disorders, reform the bail system for repeat offenders and bolster policing at Metro Vancouver's ports. 

Taxpayers may be on the hook for B.C. United employees' severance

Taxpayers could be bailing out B.C. United for the severance owed to 25 of the party's caucus employees who will be laid off. The party brought the request to the Legislative Assembly Management Committee.

Nature Trust of B.C. raises $4 million to protect Kootenay grizzly and elk habitat

The Nature Trust of B.C. has now purchased more than 3.5 square kilometres of land to create two protection areas near Cranbrook. The new conservation areas contain vital habitat for large animals like grizzly bears and elk.
