Largest crowd for final Celebration of Light
Police say nearly 500 people were forced to dump their liquor
The third and final night of the Celebration of Light fireworks display attracted the largest crowd yet, with an estimated 300,000 to 350,000 people coming out for the show on Saturday.
The crowds packed English Bay for the annual country-by-country fireworks competition to watch Thailand present their first performance at the annual event. Teams from Canada and the United Kingdom performed last week.
Police said there were eight breaches of the peace arrests and four arrests for public intoxication. But overall, the crowd was generally positive and well-behaved, police said.
Liquor pour-outs and seizures kept police busy for most of the night, with nearly 500 people being forced to dump their alcohol.
