Fatal collision closes Highway 16 between Prince George and Vanderhoof

Two collisions, including one fatal, have closed Highway 16 between Prince George and Vanderhoof.

A fatal vehicle collision has closed Highway 16 between Prince George and Vanderhoof.

RCMP say the incident occurred at around 12:45 pm PT near the Chilako River Bridge, approximately 20 kilometres west of Prince George.

There is a detour in place for non-commercial traffic, but DriveBC estimates the main highway will be closed until 7 p.m. PT.

A second collision closed the same highway, approximately 60 kilometres west of Prince George. By 3 pm, it had reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.

DriveBC is reporting slippery conditions throughout the region.
