One person was injured in an avalanche east of Golden, B.C. on Sunday.

The slide was triggered out-of-bounds on Repeater Ridge, near Kicking Horse Ski Resort, just before 1 p.m. RCMP called Golden & District Search & Rescue (GADSAR), who flew into the area by helicopter.

One man was found injuried in the backcountry and flown back to Golden where he received further medical treatment.

High avalanche risk also led to a 14-kilometres stretch of Highway 1 being closed east of Golden for two hours on Sunday.

RCMP said the slide that injured the man was on a separate ridge than the one that prompted the highway closure but was in the same general area.
