RCMP say a tow truck driver was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Highway 1 in Abbotsford, B.C. while loading his truck late Saturday morning.

RCMP couldn't confirm the extent of the driver's injuries but said they had called for an air ambulance.

Meanwhile the driver's company, Aggressive Auto Towing says in a Facebook post that their employee is in hospital and will have surgery.

It is also asking for other drivers to slow down and move over.

The crash is being considered a workplace incident, RCMP said, and WorkSafeBC confirmed it has sent investigators to the scene.
