Fox Sports transforms Vancouver Convention Centre into FIFA broadcast studio
Burnaby-based BC Event Management contracted to build temporary studio

The Vancouver Convention Centre grounds are undergoing a massive makeover as Fox Sports prepares to broadcast the FIFA Women's World Cup from there starting June 1.
Burnaby-based BC Event Management has been contracted by FOX Sports to engineer and construct a massive metal structure that will eventually become a temporary broadcast studio.

"The studio is going to be one level up, so that's where all the hosts are going to be broadcasting from and the view will be over their shoulder right into the harbour," said BC Event Management president David Clark.
The company has only two-and-a-half weeks to build the two-storey, fully functioning structure to code. When finished, it will have an anchor desk, interview lounge and a giant LED screen on the outside.
Clark says the job has been made more difficult by the fact that crews cannot use cranes. The plaza has weight limitations and is finished with paving stones on top of sand.
"Because there's no crane here, everything has to be down to a couple guys pulling things up onto the structure," he said.
