Fire at Vancouver auction house 'suspicious'
A Vancouver auction house is out thousands of dollars after a suspicious fire early Saturday morning.
The Vancouver Fire Department was called to Maynards, at Main Street and 2nd Avenue, just before 6:30 a.m. PT.
Battalion Chief Randy Hebenton says crews arrived to find smoke coming from a storage container in the back of the building.
"They had to cut the hinges to make access to the container. It's full of excess from Maynards," he said.
"[The fire] is suspicious. There is an investigator on scene. He's going to determine the cause and his outcome will be determined once he's finished."
Hebenton says crews found an opening cut into one end of the container, indicating the fire was likely started intentionally.
