Homicide investigators are trying to figure out who killed a popular building manager and his female friend, whose bodies were found Wednesday morning in an apartment at a B.C. Housing complex in Burnaby.

The bodies of Robert Calvez, 45, and Ruby Chiong, 36, were found in the three-storey Doug Drummond building at 6038 Imperial St., just off Kingsway.

Calvez was a father of two young sons and was the manager of the building, say residents, who remember him as an extremely caring person.

"We're all very sad, very, very sad that such a terrible thing should happen to a nice person, such a shock for the whole building. I can't say nothing else," said Grace Mitchell, who has lived in the building for years.

Some residents are also worried that a killer is on the loose in the neighbourhood, but RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr of the Lower Mainland'sIntegrated Homicide Investigation Team has triedto calm their fears.

"We have a pretty good idea of what happened, but we haven't nailed it down to the point where we can go public with it, but rest assured that the neighbourhood should feel safe," he said.

Police have yet to confirm how the couple died.
