Cyclist killed, driver arrested in Richmond hit and run
Licence plate left behind at crash scene leads police to 26-year-old Richmond man
A 64-year-old man who was cycling was killed after a driver struck him, and fled, in Richmond, B.C. early this morning.
Richmond RCMP Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said residents in the 4400 block of No. 5 Road, near McNeely Drive, called police at 3:25 a.m. PT after finding the cyclist unresponsive on the sidewalk.
He could not be revived.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the cyclist was nowhere to be found, but police found a licence plate at the crash scene.
A 26-year-old Richmond man was arrested near his home Monday morning.
His vehicle has been seized, police said. No charges have been laid.
The victim has not been identified pending notification of his next-of-kin.
