CBC Vancouver sponsors Western Canada's largest queer arts event
August 13-23 online
CBC Vancouver is proud to return as exclusive media sponsor of the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, Western Canada's largest queer arts event.
Now in its 32nd year, the Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) showcases dynamic and thought-provoking films from British Columbian filmmakers and other Canadian and international directors and storytellers, with narratives from Trans people, queer people of colour and Indigenous people. This year, the festival will take place online where audiences at home will be offered the best in independent queer cinema along with workshops, artist Q&A's, panels and virtual gatherings.
On August 15, join CBC's Faith Fundal as they host Out of the Casting Closet – a panel discussion with casting agents, members of UBCP/ACTRA and other industry professionals about casting diversity across the film industry.
Also on August 15, the festival's popular shorts program The Coast is Queer returns, highlighting the work of local queer emerging and established filmmakers. The short films range in genre and style, from documentary to narrative, fantasy, experimental and romance.
