Vancouver mariachi superstars Mariachi Los Dorados will return to the CBC Plaza in Vancouver on Aug. 21 to close out another great year of free music in this year's Musical Nooners concert series.

Mariachi Los Dorados has been active since 2003, playing traditional Mexican music in Western Canada, the U.S., and even in a few Mexican states.

Bandleader, vocalist and guitarist Alex Alegria is the driving force behind the band, which aims to celebrate Mexican culture as well as entertain audiences.

Here's a little taste of the group: this is their performance of La Boa during the 2011 Musical Nooners season.

The CBC Musical Nooners are a series of free, live music concerts every weekday from noon to 1 p.m. PT at the CBC Vancouver Plaza on Hamilton Street (between West Georgia and Robson streets).

While we do control the line-up, we can't control the weather. Follow us on Twitter at @CBCVancouver or #musicalnooners in case of changes to the schedule due to inclement weather.
