A teenage girl is recovering in hospital with a broken leg and concussion, after she was struck by a car in rural Abbotsford, police say.

The 16-year-old was hit on Peardonville Road around 9 p.m. Sunday, when she was out rollerblading with a friend, Abbotsford police say.

The 24-year-old driver remained on scene and is co-operating with police, said Cst. Ian MacDonald.

There were no indications of impairment, MacDonald said, but investigators will be checking whether speed or any other issues were involved in the crash.

No charges have been recommended so far.
