Kasimir Tyabji-Sandana, 29, accused of importing drugs
A new trial date has been set for the son of a former B.C. MLA accused of importing drugs after border guards found fentanyl in a parcel addressed to a Calgary address.
Kasimir Tyabji-Sandana of Calgary was arrested in July 2015, not long after Canadian Border Services Agency officers in Vancouver intercepted the package from China.
A five-day trial, that had been scheduled to begin today, will now begin next April.
Tyabji-Sandana, who is 29, remains out on bail.
His mother, Judi Tyabji, was the youngest MLA in the B.C. Legislature when she was elected in 1991.
Her subsequent affair with then-leader Gordon Wilson rocked the B.C. Liberal party in 1993 — they went on to marry and formed the Progressive Democratic Alliance, which folded after the 1996 election.
