BC Hydro website fails at worst possible time during windstorm
BC Hydro president says organization is seeking answers from website provider TELUS
BC Hydro was unable to update customers online due to a complete website failure that lasted the entire duration of Saturday's windstorm and continued through Sunday into Monday.
About 500,000 Hydro customers who lost power in the windstorm were unable to access the website for crucial updates.
In an interview with CBC's Andrew Chang, BC Hydro President and CEO Jessica McDonald says Hydro is looking to website provider TELUS for answers as well as an explanation for why backup plans didn't work.
McDonald says that despite the problem, BC Hydro's crews did succeed in restoring power in a timely manner.
