2 Surrey men charged in unrelated killings

Murder charges have been laid against a Surrey man in the death of his wife.

Sivapragasam Ratnanesan, 51, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, real estate agent Subalini Ratnanesan, 50. He appeared in Surrey Provincial Court on Thursday.

Subalini Ratnanesan was found dead in her home Tuesday evening and her husband was found injured in the house, in what police have only called a "dramatic scene."

Meanwhile, 39-year-old Jerry Patrick Bayko, also of Surrey, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Shannon Raylene Deschamps, whose body was found on Dec. 11.

Police said Bayko had been in a relationship with Deschamps and the killing was allegedly the result of a domestic violence incident.

Police have not said how either woman was killed.
