2 poets, 1 Canadian and 1 international, to win $65,000 each

Canada's wordsmiths will come together tonight for the Griffin Poetry Prize gala in Toronto.

The annual bash will see two poets — one Canadian and one international — win $65,000 apiece.

Canadian finalists include Vancouver's Jane Munro for Blue Sonoma, Shane Book of Ottawa for Congotronic and North Vancouver writer Russell Thornton for The Hundred Lives.

The international short list includes:

  • Something Crosses My Mind by Eleanor Goodman, translated from Chinese, written by Wang Xiaoni
  • Finite Formulae & Theories of Chance by Marek Kazmierski, translated from Polish, written by Wioletta Greg
