Moose Gets Up Close to Crew’s Car

Salt — in this case, road salt — is a crucial part of a moose's diet, and a moose will do just about anything to get it.

It's challenging for moose to find food in the depths of winter. Salt is a great source of potassium, calcium and magnesium. That's why moose often head to roadside salt pools to quench their nutrient needs. This, unfortunately, puts them at risk for accidents.
