Watch Exco Levi's rousing performance at the 2019 CBC Music Festival
You'll see why he has won 5 Juno Awards for reggae recording of the year
Jamaican–Canadian reggae artist Exco Levi had the honour of getting the party started at the 2019 CBC Music Festival. He was the first act to play the main stage at Toronto's Echo Beach — in retrospect, a good pole position since some of the later performances ended up getting interrupted by heavy rain.
A winner of five Juno Awards, Levi is Canada's most decorated reggae musician, and during his set he and his bandmates treated fans to favourites from their extensive catalogue, including 2017's Narrative and 2015's Country Man, showcasing their unique brand of roots-rock-reggae.
"We sing reggae music," announced Levi from the stage. "Songs of liberation, songs of unification, you know what I mean? That's what we're all about."
