Watch Jean-Michel Blais transform Feist's 'Mushaboom' into a beautiful piano piece

The Quebec pianist, who is nominated for the Polaris Music Prize this year, covers the song by previous Polaris winner Leslie Feist.

In a new instalment of Polaris Music Prize's cover sessions, 2018 short-list nominee Jean-Michel Blais is taking on "Mushaboom" by 2012 Polaris winner Feist.

Blais says he first heard the song when he was "a teenager and it was played in a skateboard movie." The Quebec pianist's version is a beautiful instrumental reimagination of Feist's 2004 single. You can watch the full performance below, and scroll down below that for the original, for comparison.
