In addition to being the drummer and songwriter for Rush, Neil Peart was also a celebrated author who wrote a number of fiction and non-fiction titles including The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa, Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road, and Clockwork Angels, the novelization of the 2012 Rush album which Peart teamed up with science fiction writer Kevin J. Anderson to develop.

Next year, a new book will be released by Simon & Schuster titled Neil Peart: The Illustrated Quotes. The 108-page release will be published on Jan. 12, 2021. It was authorized by the drummer, who died earlier this year from brain cancer at the age of 67. Illustrated Quotes will pair the musician's iconic words with illustrations by the artists at Fantoons, an animation studio that previously worked with Rush on a graphic novel for their album, A Farewell to Kings.

"Neil charmed the world with his introspective and eclectic writing," a Simon & Schuster press release says. "Heavily inspired by science fiction, fantasy, philosophy, and his many cross-country trips on his motorcycle, Neil crafted universal lyrics that encapsulated the social and humanitarian issues of the time."
