Our labour and employment standards laws were written for a very different time. These days values like treating workers fairly and decently seem to be in conflict with economic priorities like competitiveness, flexibility and efficiency. Matt Galloway spoke with Michael Mitchell, he is an arbitrator and mediator. He and John Murray are heading up a review of Ontario's labour and employment standards laws, the first-ever joint review of both pieces of legislation.
