What's On: Pride, Luminato and summer in the city

One party begins as another one ends, and Toronto plays party central this weekend:

Pride Toronto
Jun 19 to Jun 28
Various Locations

The main events taking place this weekend are the Trans Parade, Dyke March and Pride Parade. But there's much more beyond the dance parties and block parties, including events such as the Dirty.Sexy.Queer book reading at Glad Day Bookshop, the Trans Picnic and Memorial at Allan Gardens and the Pride and Remembrance Run.

For the complete line-up, check out the Pride Toronto website.

Luminato Festival: My One Demand
Jun 25 to Jun 27
Various Locations

It's an ambitious experiment with many risks involved. My One Demand is a live shot and live streamed film. And it's interactive. Seven actors including Julian Richings and Clare Coulter navigate their way through Toronto in a film about unrequited love. Audience participation can alter the course, so each night the story is a little different.

For more information, check out the Luminato website.

Movie Night at the Park: Frozen
Jun 26
McCormick Park (Ward 18)

What's better than one kid belting out Frozen? Dozens of kids singing the song -- with some parental accompaniment.

For more information, check out Ward 18 councillor Ana Bailao's website.

Movie Night at the Park: Ghostbusters
Jun 26
Liberty Village Park

Catch the classic film with other fans. Maybe even bring out those proton packs!

For more information, check out the Liberty Central blog.

Sandcastle Day
Jun 28
The Beaches: East of Woodbine Bathing Station

The 9th annual Sandcastle Day organized by the Beaches Lodge will bring together teams to compete for The Beaches Cup. Teams can arrive as early as they want, but the award will be handed out at 3 PM.

For more information, check out the Beaches Lodge website.

Farmers Markets
Jun 27 and Jun 28
Various Locations

Now that summer is here, even more reason to visit a local Farmer's Market. Options this weekend include Junction Market, Withrow Park Farmers Market and the Evergreen Brick Works Farmers Market.
