Norwegian Jazz Singer

Karin Krog is a household name in her native Norway and across Scandinavia but is relatively unknown in North America. A brand new collection hopes to rectify that situation and Errol reviewed it on the show this morning. The CD title is "Karin Krog: Don't Just Sing" and it features her best recordings from 1963 to1999. Since she began singing six decades back, Karin has released traditional and contemporary jazz records, blues, progressive rock, pop and even some experimental vocal music. This expertly curated 16 track collection features all those styles, but it's Karin's deep, fluid voice that makes this collection really sing. Not only was Karin musically adventurous, she was business savvy too. Pat Thomas, an LA-based writer who produced this collection, likened her to Miles Davis. He said Karin was constantly changing and reshaping her sound, adding that "her approach to music changed with the times but has always remained classic and classy no matter what decade or genre it was". follow me @ErrolNazareth
