Nancy Carlson

Nancy Carlson is the host of NEWS AT 6, CBC Edmonton’s flagship television program.

Nancy knows what is means to be an Edmontonian. She grew up in the city and has many fond memories of exploring different neighbourhoods with her family and friends in her childhood years.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from the University of Alberta, Nancy moved to pursue her passion for journalism. Her move brought her to the University of Regina where she realized that broadcasting was the best medium for her. She went on to graduate with honours, holding her first internship at CBC Manitoba, in Winnipeg.

Once Nancy’s time in Regina was complete, she returned to Alberta for her first job in a newsroom. During this time in Red Deer she executed a series on the history and future of Hobbema, now known as Maskwacis, and spent time producing and hosting a half-hour lifestyle show. Nancy then returned to Regina and Winnipeg, before coming home to Edmonton.

Edmonton will always be home for Nancy. She enjoys spending her spare time working with various groups within the city, such as HIV Edmonton. You can also find Nancy baking cookies, exploring the river valley with her dog, or scoping out a coffee shop. When you check out her social media accounts you’ll also get your fill of photos of her cat, Oliver.
