Meagan Fitzpatrick

Meagan is a reporter in CBC's Washington bureau. She arrived there in September 2013 and traded in her Parliament Hill pass for a Capitol Hill one. A politics junkie, she formerly worked in CBC's Ottawa bureau, writing for the politics page of CBC.ca and occasionally appearing on CBC News Network. Having covered Canadian politics for a few years, she's now focused on the American side of the border, bringing stories to Canadians online and on air.

Meagan's assignment in Washington is her second foreign posting with CBC. In early 2013, she spent three months in Hong Kong, expanding CBC's foreign coverage of Asia by writing dozens of stories for CBC.ca.

Meagan joined the CBC in 2011 as an online reporter and before that worked for Canada's largest chain of newspapers. She began her print journalism career in 2003 in Ottawa after graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a Master of Arts in journalism degree. Meagan holds an undergraduate degree in political studies from Queen's University. She was born and raised in Toronto.
