Kylik Kisoun Taylor

Kylik is the next generation of Northerners, marrying old-world traditions with modern day business savvy. He is of European, Gwich’in and Inuvialuit decent, which gives him a toehold in two very distinct worlds. His parents met in Inuvik and seperated when he was a baby; he grew up in Northern Ontario, hunting, dog sledding and trapping with his Scandinavian father. At age 16, he went back to Inuvik to visit his mother and Northern family and never left.  He set out to learn his traditional culture, teaching himself how to build an igloo, shoot a bow, and paddle a traditional Qayaq - the first person in his family in generations to participate in these traditions. When he’s not running his tour operation company, Kylik sits on the Aboriginal Tourism Association of Canada board, helps with the Sunrise Festival that celebrates the “return of the sun”, and teaches his kids, and other children in town, a traditional way of life.
