Julie Van Dusen

Julie Van Dusen has worked for CBC in Ottawa on Parliament Hill for more than 20 years.

Her reports are seen on CBC News Network, CBC supper hour shows and The National.

Van Dusen is also a weekly panelist on CBC Radio Ottawa's All in a Day, and has guest-hosted CBC Radio's, All in a Day, As It Happens, The Current and Cross Country Checkup. Her work includes stretches in Washington, Montreal and Toronto.Van Dusen has covered every major political convention, election, leadership race, and First Minister's conference in her years on Parliament Hill. She has done countless reports on the evolution and upheaval in the Canadian Alliance and its subsequent merger with the Progressive Conservatives. She has covered the Liberal party, the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois since it's inception. She has reported on presidential meetings in the nation's capital and trips by major world leaders including Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama. She was the live reporter on Pierre Trudeau's funeral train as it made its way from Ottawa to Montreal. She is one of the lucky reporters to have scrummed Mother Theresa.

Fluently bilingual, Van Dusen has a degree in French literature from the University of Ottawa.She has been featured in several documentaries about scrums on Parliament Hill. She was nominated for a CBC English Television award from colleagues for her coverage of Parliament Hill. She is a member of one of Canada's most prolific journalistic families. Five of her siblings are reporters, and her late father, Tom, was a former reporter who also worked as a political aide for 40 years on Parliament Hill.

She is the proud mother of three children.
