A Calgary scientist has unlocked the mystery surrounding ancient tiny creatures, called stenothecoids.Their shells were discovered in rocks that are more than 500 million years old, in the Burgess Shale in B.C. Researchers have long been baffled by the creatures, but Paul Johnston has figured out how to classify them.
He is an associate professor in the department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Mount Royal University, and an internationally recognized expert on the evolution of mollusks.
