This month marks three years since federal legislation came into effect allowing adults to request medical assistance in dying. According to the human rights advocacy group, Dying with Dignity Canada, since Bill C-14 was passed more than six thousand Canadians have accessed their right to die. According to Alberta Health Services, nearly seven hundred of those people received medical assistance in dying in Alberta. Shanaaz Gokool is the CEO of Dying with Dignity Canada. She is in Calgary to speak about the legislation.
