Sherbrooke artist and mathematician uses a supercomputer to create unique visual art
Étienne Saint-Amant is an artist and mathematician who takes complex formulas and translates them into high resolution graphic images. His latest piece is called Idéaux Impossible, a mesmerizing, colourful, moving landscape animation that was created with the help of the Centre de calcul scientifique de l'Université de Sherbrooke. The piece is accompanied by the music of Thierry Gauthier and the visuals were created with mathematical formulas generated by a supercomputer. Étienne Saint-Amant spoke with Alison Brunette about his latest work, his unique approach and the museum installation where listeners will be able to immerse themselves in his work.
