Just 1 in 20 women in Canada are Indigenous, but for the first time in federal prisons, Indigenous women now account for half of all female inmates. Canada's prison ombudsman, Ivan Zinger, has called the overrepresentation both "appalling and shameful." Donna Gamble shares her experience of more than twenty years in the corrections system.
