Petite Maman's Céline Sciamma on her inspiration for the film and her unique approach to storytelling
French writer and director Céline Sciamma is known for her films focusing on strong female characters who are often on a journey to find their true selves. She won the best screenplay award at Cannes for her last film, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, which was the most watched movie from France the year it came out. Sciamma’s latest film, Petite Maman, is already being called one of the best movies of the year. She joined Tom Power to tell us about the new film and why she rejects many of the standard storytelling conventions in her approach to filmmaking.
