September Song: Heather Nicol transforms her memories of 9/11 into new art installation
When you think back to Sept. 11, 2001, you probably remember exactly where you were. Like many others, Canadian artist Heather Nicol has been haunted by the events of that day for the last 20 years. She was just blocks away from where the towers fell in New York on that cataclysmic morning. Now, she’s created an immersive visual and sound installation, titled September Song, inspired by her first-hand experience of the attacks. It opens on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre in Toronto. Nicol joined guest host Talia Schlanger to talk about the installation and her memories of 9/11.
