How the 2021 International Indigenous Music Summit is helping Indigenous artists connect during the pandemic
June is National Indigenous History Month — a time when many Indigenous people are usually gathering, holding ceremonies and meeting at local pow wows. While this year looks quite different due to COVID-19, Indigenous musicians and storytellers across Canada are still finding a way to connect with each other thanks to the International Indigenous Music Summit (IIMS). Two of the artists leading this year's IIMS, ShoShona Kish and Amanda Rheaume, joined Tom Power to discuss the summit's goals, and the current state of Indigenous music in Canada and beyond.
