Indigenous Languages around the world are disappearing at an alarming rate.
About 40 percent of the estimated 6700 languages spoken globally are threatened.
B.C. is home to more than 60 Indigenous languages, but just three per cent of First Nations people in the province consider themselves fluent.
Over the next three days, experts from around the world will be gathering in Victoria to celebrate, reclaim, and revitalize Indigenous languages. Gregor Craigie found out more with Dr. Lorna Williams, a Professor Emerita of Indigenous Education from University of Victoria.
