What's happening with the seals in the Gulf of the Saint Lawrence river?
Over the past several decades, the number of grey seals and harp seals has increased dramatically, in part because of the end of the seal hunt. In recent winters, warmer than average temperatures have resulted in less ice coverage, and many seal pups have not survived. We hear from Mike Hammill, a marine biologist with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans' at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute in Mont Joli.
