Suicide Prevention: Families and mental health advocates speak out
On World Suicide Prevention Day we talked about what supports are needed for people who are having suicidal thoughts and we also heard from families who are dealing with some very complicated grief. We were joined by Marilyn Irwin who lost her adult son to suicide in 2018, Faith Bodnar from the Canadian Mental Health Association Saskatoon Branch and Michel Rodrigue from the Mental Health Commission of Canada. We are also very grateful to the people who called in to share their own experiences.
If you are struggling, you need to know that you are not alone. There are people available who want to help. If you’re thinking about suicide or are worried about a friend or loved one, the Canada Suicide Prevention Service is available 24/7.
