Farmers have always been stewards of the land; it is their livelihood after all but over the last coupe of decades there have been some major changes and innovations.
From zero till to the rise of organic farming new ways of managing pastures to the increasing use of technology, managing the land has changed.
Today on Blue Sky we brought together three farmers and a soil scientist to talk about sustainability. Antonious Petro is a soil scientist with Regeneration Canada. Todd Lewis is conventional farmer near Gray, Laura Hoimyr runs Box H Farms near Gladmar (where they've converted their cropland to pasture) and Wendy Wecker is an organic farmer from near Riceton who used inter cropping to improve soil health.
