Montreal writer Carolyn Marie Souaid has spent a lifetime attempting to understand the gulf between people and cultures. After teaching in Inuit villages along Quebec's Hudson-Ungava coast Souaid became an academic counselor at John Abbott College helping Inuit students get used to 'southern' life at the college. Her debut novel 'Yasmeen Haddad Loves Joanasi Maqaittik', presents a coming of age love story that takes place in the far north where worlds collide for two lovers.
