We’ve all seen images of health care workers covered head to toe in personal protective equipment. It’s a necessary measure to fight COVID-19, but it can also be impersonal. Often patients can’t recognize their own doctors and nurses. Now a pilot project at the MUHC is trying to change that by having health care workers put big photos of themselves on their PPE. We speak with Adamo Donovan, a PhD student and the founder of the MUHC’s ICU volunteer program who brought the idea to the MUHC’s ICU unit. We also speak with Caroline Coutu, a nurse clinician working in the MUHC’s ICU unit who is heading the PPE portrait project there.
