This week, The Canadian Opera Company (COC) presented the world premiere of Pomegranate, a chamber opera with a lesbian love story at its centre that time travels across 2,000 years between a temple in ancient Pompeii and a lesbian bar in Toronto's gay village in the 1980s. Director Jennifer Tarver tells Brent Bambury about the production, what went into making it and why she hopes it will be groundbreaking.
