Access to abortion care and services is still a problem in Canada — should midwives step in and fill the gap?
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, access to abortions has been fraught and unpredictable across the United States. But it’s not available everywhere equally in Canada either.
In an earlier version of this broadcast, Michelle Turner, a registered midwife and a clinical assistant professor of midwifery at the University of British Columbia, stated that in British Columbia, midwives care for patients postpartum for up to three weeks.
